Our next intensive psychotherapy training program for physicians and nurse practitioners is starting soon. This is a comprehensive program with experiential components. The program has evolved and matured and this will be our ninth time running to program. We are trauma-informed with a strong emphasis on self-care. The program consists of five weekend intensives with program supervision sessions between modules. We start in March and conclude in September of 2024. We currently have a few spaces remaining.
This program is designed to meet the various needs of both primary care and specialist physicians and nurse practitioners. With a focus on building a therapeutic alliance and working through difficult clinical encounters, the program will support physicians interested in integrating more counselling into their practices as well as seeking a deeper understanding psychophysiological processes at work in chronic conditions such as chronic pain and chronic illnesses. Skills to de-escalate and work through ruptures and misattunements will be offered and there will be opportunity for greater self-awareness around how we practice and make meaning of our vocations.
The program also offers a pathway for physicians and nurse practitioners interested in changing career focus and scope with either the intention of working towards offering full-time mental health care or integrating more mental health care into their practices - whether through a primary care lens or a specialty such as paediatrics, oncology or obstretrics/gynecology.
