Recovery-Based Assessment Workshop
This workshop is designed to provide participants with a foundational understanding recovery-oriented practice in community mental health and addiction settings. The assessment process is discussed using a recovery-oriented lens. The practical application of the framework is reinforced through large and small group discussion using carious client studies.
Participants will:
- Understand the important and role of assessment in community mental health and addiction services.
- Recognize the importance of client participation in the assessment process.
- Differentiate recover/client centered practice principles from medical approach.
- Examine recovery-oriented practice application to client assessment.
Audience
This workshop is designed for front-line community workers who provide mental health and/or addiction support. Most participants have roles that require them to complete comprehensive assessments with clients (OCAN, GAIN, LOCUS) or use various screening/assessment tools.
