This research project follows up on the work of Fiona Jager https://www.stlawrencecollege.ca/programs/school-of-baccalaureate-nursing-faculty-profiles on Community Treatment Orders -CTO’s, where she examined the experience of CTO’s from an on the ground perspective.

The new research effort, in partnership with a law researcher, looks at the CTO process in Ontario from the point of view of the multiple stakeholders involved, including CCB members, PPAO members, Health care practitioners, clients, families and lawyers.

..."What is the study about?
Community treatment orders (CTOs) allow for the involuntary treatment of people with mental illness under the Mental Health Act. The purpose of this study is to address ongoing issues with the CTO process in Ontario by investigating the views of and building collaboration between key stakeholders. We aim to engage different CTO stakeholders to generate ideas for an improved CTO process and use these solutions to make policy recommendations." ...
