Community sharps bins
Hi!
Could anyone share information and/or experience they have about setting up community sharps bins? Our health unit is looking into possibly providing community partners with bins but would have a memorandum of understanding that would have the onus on them to maintain and manage the bins. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Here's one link https://www.hamilton.ca/govern...bins-be-installed-in
I was going to re-post on our Facebook page for any other feedback. Not all members subscribe to eenet so a link or email address would be helpful. You can post direct if you wish. https://www.facebook.com/group...miltonHelpingNetwork
Thanks John, email is petersk@timiskaminghu.com. I came across that link but hoping for more specific info on how everyone works with their communities. Do they lead, partner, fund, or facilitate setting bins up in the community? And steps taken to achieve this?
Thanks
Kim
Hi Kim,
I can connect with you about this when we meet Friday, if you like. Just remind me.
Thank you,
Katharine
Hi Kim! The Brant County Health Unit provides sharps bins in the community - both public outdoor bins and smaller bins for individual community organizations and businesses. The Health Unit does all of the collection of used sharps for all of these bins. I am not directly involved in this work but if you email me I'd be happy to connect you to those who are - alyssa.stryker@bchu.org.
Cheers,
Alyssa (Drugs Strategy Coordinator, Brant County)
