Issues of Substance Conference Abstract Deadline
CCSA Issues of Substance 2019 conference will take place November 25–27, 2019, at the Westin Ottawa. This event provides an unparalleled opportunity to share new evidence, and best and emerging practices. It’s Canada’s only national conference that brings together addiction workers, healthcare professionals, researchers, policy makers, knowledge brokers, and people with direct or indirect, lived or living experience with substance use or a substance use disorders from across the country.
Abstracts should be 250 words, and you can submit them for oral presentations, interactive workshops and posters presentations. Although we will consider all abstracts, CCSA is looking for submissions that support the following subthemes:
- Current trends, emerging issues and their implications
- Determinants and consequences of substance use and addiction
- Key individual factors and characteristics relevant to substance use and
addiction (e.g., concurrent conditions, sex and gender, trauma, etc.)
- Legal, social and community responses to substance use- and addiction-
related harms
- Truth and reconciliation and Indigenous approaches to healing
- Considerations for at-risk or marginalized populations (e.g., youth,
incarcerated persons, older adults, people who are homeless, new
Canadians, LGBTQ2+, etc.)
- Meaningful ways of addressing stigma
- Innovative and novel approaches to service delivery (e.g., technology-
assisted therapy, mobile apps, therapy animals, digital technology, etc.)
- Health promotion, prevention and early identification
- The continuum of care, including overdose prevention and management,
access to services, waiting times, recovery, health and wellbeing
