Mental Illness Awareness Week – October 4-10, 2020
In any given year, 1 in 5 Canadians will experience a mental illness.
Mental Illness Awareness Week (MIAW) is an annual national public education campaign to help Canadians raise awareness and see the reality of living with mental illness and to end the stigma associated with mental illness. This campaign was established in 1992 by the Canadian Psychiatric Association and is now coordinated by the Canadian Alliance on Mental Illness and Mental Health.
This week through MIAWs major initiative – Faces of Mental Illness campaign, Canadians will share their personal stories and their journey to recovery from mental illness. Share your journey to recovery by using #MIAW20.
Tell us what you or your organization are doing for MIAW in the comments below!
Niagara Region Mental Health is hosting it's annual Memorial Forest Vigil on October 8th. This event helps us to remember those who have lost the battle against mental illness. This year's email will be virtual and hosted on this page on October 8th at 3pm. www.niagararegion.ca/memorial-forest
We also have a page where people in our community can post their story of recovery: https://www.niagararegion.ca/l...ies/submissions.aspx
