Ministry of Health recruiting members for Patient and Family Advisory Council
The Ministry of Health is recruiting for its Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC). The PFAC supports the Chair in providing strategic advice to the Minister of Health.
Some ways PFAC members can contribute:
- advising the Chair on issues important to patients and families across the province and other high-priority health system initiatives to support a truly patient-centred health care system;
- informing the Chair’s advice to the Ministry of Health on enhancing and aligning patient and family engagement activities across the ministry and broader health care system to maximize their quality and impact;
- supporting connections between the Council and other patient partners, as well as other patient and family advisory bodies across the health care system, including Ontario Health and health service provider organizations; and
- supporting the Council in achieving its mandate to improve patient care and experience by helping to ensure the patient voice is at the centre of decision-making at the ministry and at every level of the health care system.

what exactly is the work involved, and expectation of level of expertise and experience.
Hi Frances,
According to the link they are looking for folks with "Collaboration and communication skills, lived experience as a patient or caregiver in the health care system, experience as a patient and family advisor, and knowledge of government decision-making processes, health system priorities, and patient and family engagement best practices." Unfortunately they did not provide more specific details as to what the work will involve, other than what was posted above.
Hope this is helpful,
Jeff
