Recruiting participants for an online research study on concussion and depression
Researchers at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, Canada are recruiting participants for an online research study of the interaction between depression and concussion (a.k.a. mild traumatic brain injury [mTBI]). They aim to better understand how these two conditions (both separately and combined) affect people’s experience of reward, as well as their resilience, particularly during COVID-19.
They are recruiting participants aged 18-70 across Canada and the United States who fall into four different groups:
- Depression Group: People who have current depression, and no history of concussion/TBI
- Concussion Group: People who have had a concussion/mTBI in the past 3-24 months, and no psychiatric history
- Depression & Concussion Group: People who have current depression AND who have had a concussion/mTBI within the past 3-24 months
- Comparison Group: People with no concussion/TBI or psychiatric history
Study participation involves completion of self-report questionnaires and computerized reward/cognitive tasks completed on your own desktop or laptop computer. The study consists of a single online session (approximately 90 minutes total), completed when and where you want. Participation is completely voluntary.
Upon completion of the study, eligible participants are entered into a raffle to win 1 of 20 gift cards ($50 CAD each).
