Description: More than one billion people are affected by anxiety, depression, addiction, and eating disorders, and the global prevalence of these conditions is increasing. New treatment approaches are urgently needed to address this growing mental health crisis. There has been a remarkable resurgence of research in psychedelic medicine in the past two decades that supports the therapeutic use of psychedelic medicines in the treatment of emotional and psychosomatic disorders. The psychedelic renaissance is in its infancy but is poised to transform the way we practice psychiatry and psychotherapy.

This webinar will present recent findings on how the use of psychedelics, paired with psychotherapy, has the potential to yield significant breakthroughs for adults with difficult-to-treat mental health conditions, including depression, OCD, PTSD, Anxiety, Addiction.  Paradigms of psychedelic-assisted therapy will be reviewed, along with medicolegal and safety considerations in the use of psychedelic compounds. We will also review theoretical frameworks for understanding the therapeutic potential of altered states of consciousness, and explore practices and techniques for the integration of insights gained during psychedelic experience into day to day life.

  • Describe basic properties and classic psychedelic compounds (such as psilocybin, ayahuasca, ibogaine and LSD), ketamine and MDMA.
  • Understand theoretical approaches to psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy and how to integrate these practices into everyday healthcare.
