Workshop audience:
This workshop is open to any health-care professional who may have interactions with individuals who have eating disorders (including those who work in mental health). It is an introductory workshop, so is more targeted to those who have little experience in the field.
For example- social workers, counselors, nurses, pharmacists, occupational therapist, midwives, dental hygienist, physical therapist, mental healthcare workers, psychotherapists etc.
Workshop Description
This interactive training will build participants’ understanding and recognition of eating disorders. In the first part of the workshop, basic eating disorder criteria and statistics will be outlined. Then, the trainers will provide concrete tools for practitioners to use in their practice with clients who have eating disorders. Finally, the training will outline the different types of specialized services for eating disorders. Case studies and examples from those with lived experience will be provided throughout. Participants will be encouraged to collaborate with professionals in different fields during break-out groups to discuss concepts and tools.
