Guest speaker Dr David Teplin will tackle what the science says, and the various issues clinicians may want to think about, related to legalized cannabis, including:
- Is this "reefer madness" or is cannabis really a "soft drug"
- Are there potential harms of cannabis use?
- What populations might be more vulnerable or at greater risk?
- What determines a cannabis use disorder?
- Does cannabis use disorder occur with other mental health conditions?
- What are the treatment options for cannabis use disorder?
- What are the lower risk guidelines for cannabis use? What we still don't know?

Dr. David Teplin is an adult clinical psychologist in full-time private practice in Richmond Hill, Ontario. His primary focus is clinical assessment, adult ADHD, and substance use disorders. He is also an adjunct professor in the doctoral program in clinical psychology at Medaille College in Buffalo, New York. He sits on the editorial review boards for the Journal of Attention Disorders, the Journal of Addictive Diseases, and the Journal of Opioid Management. He also co-chairs the professional advisory board for the Attention Deficit Disorder Association. More recently he chaired the Canadian Psychological Association task force on the legalization of cannabis.
