CAMH Research Rounds: How alcohol affects the health of individuals and populations

Presenter: Kevin Shield, Ph.D.

Dr. Kevin D. Shield is an Independent Scientist at the Institute for Mental Health Policy Research and the Head of the World Health Organization (WHO)/Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) Collaborating Centre in Addiction and Mental Health at CAMH. He is also an Assistant Professor in the Epidemiology Division of the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto. Dr. Shield’s multi-disciplinary public health surveillance research programs generate scientific data that inform individuals, clinicians and policymakers on how best to reduce the public health harms caused by alcohol and other drugs. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed publications and has an h-index of 30 (Scopus database).

About the CAMH Research Rounds seminar series:

This monthly seminar series features overviews of research performed by various scientists from across CAMH research. The series provides a unique forum for CAMH researchers to get better acquainted with each other’s work and share ideas to foster collaborations across CAMH and enhance the CAMH research environment.

Suggested time allotted is 40 minutes for presentation followed by 20 minutes of discussion.
