Prerequisite: Certificate in CBT Level 1 from SickKids CCMH Learning Institute OR equivalent knowledge/training in foundational CBT.

Please note: This is a five-module/webinar certificate program. You must complete all five modules within a year to obtain the certificate. Each of the modules may be taken on their own as a stand-alone training.

Building on foundational cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) knowledge, this advanced program is designed to enhance your ability to apply CBT strategies to specific clinical populations. Through a series of five comprehensive modules, you will learn to conceptualize various mental health conditions through a CBT-based framework and master the application of cognitive and behavioural techniques tailored to each condition.

By participating in this program, you will develop expertise in conceptualizing cases for both common and complex mental health conditions. You will gain practical skills in applying and implementing cognitive and behavioural strategies specific to each disorder, enabling you to provide more effective and targeted interventions. This advanced training will equip you with the tools to enhance your clinical practice and improve outcomes for your clients across a diverse spectrum of mental health challenges.

Consisting of five comprehensive modules, this program is designed to equip practitioners with advanced Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques for treating a range of mental health conditions.

This program is offered as an open module series, allowing the flexibility to register for any of the five individual modules or the entire series, depending on your learning objectives. Whether you choose to join one module or all five, this series aims to provide valuable insights and practical tools for professionals looking to support a diverse spectrum of mental health challenges.

Module overview:

  • November 6, 2026: CBT for anxiety - Explore foundational CBT concepts and techniques for treating anxiety disorders, including case conceptualization and treatment planning.
  • November 13, 2026: CBT for generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) - Learn specific CBT interventions for GAD and OCD, focusing on exposure-based treatments.
  • November 20 and 27, 2026: CBT for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) with prolonged exposure therapy (PE) - Gain in-depth knowledge of PE for PTSD, including its theoretical foundations and practical application techniques.
  • December 4, 2026: CBT for psychosis - Discover CBT adaptations for treating psychosis, emphasizing strategies to address delusions and hallucinations.
  • December 11, 2026: CBT for bipolar disorder - Examine the application of CBT principles in treating bipolar disorder, focusing on relapse prevention and mood management strategies.

Facilitator Bios:

Noah Lazar, PhD, C.Psych, is the Clinical Director and Founder of The Downtown Psychology Clinic, a group private practice located in Toronto. He is also an Adjunct Professor and the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Program Director at the University of Toronto.

He completed his PhD in clinical psychology at Western University, with a research focus on the neurobiology and genetics of schizophrenia. He completed his predoctoral training at St. Joseph's Healthcare, Hamilton, in their Mood Disorders Clinic, Neuropsychology Service and Schizophrenia and Severe Mental Illness Clinic. He also worked in numerous inpatient and outpatient psychiatric clinics before beginning work full-time in private practice.

He offers assessment and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) for a wide range of difficulties, including mood and anxiety disorders, psychosis and ADHD. He also works extensively with clients experiencing mental health issues, returning to work from short-term or long-term disability. He is certified by the Canadian Association of Cognitive Behavioural Therapies in the provision of CBT. 

Daniel Peluso, PhD, C.Psych, is a clinical psychologist and his focus includes cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) assessment and treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), trauma-related disorders, anxiety and mood disorders, pain and illness-related disorders, and interpersonal difficulties. Dr. Peluso is a member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario and the Ontario Psychological Association.

Dr. Peluso has experience providing CBT and related therapies (mindfulness and DBT) in a range of outpatient settings, including mental health hospitals, rehabilitation/pain programs, and operational stress injury clinics with the Veterans of Canadian Forces, as well as RCMP. D


Continuing Education (CE) information:  30 CE hours for full certificate | 6 CE hours for each module

SickKids Centre for Community Mental Health Learning Institute is approved by the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) to offer continuing education (CE) hours. The number of eligible CE hours are outlined within each program. SickKids Centre for Community Mental Health Learning Institute maintains responsibility for the programs.

Other licensing boards and professional organizations will grant continuing education credits for attendance at their own discretion; participants will need to submit the course outline and Certificate of Participation for their consideration.
