Dr. Shelley McMain is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto, Canada. She is the Head of the Borderline Personality Disorder Clinic, and a Clinician Scientist at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health in Toronto, Canada.  Dr. McMain is the President of the North American Society for Psychotherapy Research and Past Co-Chair of the International Society for Psychotherapy Integration. She serves on the Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) Strategic Planning Committee and on the Scientific Advisory Board of the Linehan Institute. Dr. McMain is a researcher and expert in the treatment of personality disorders and DBT. Dr McMain has delivered more than 300 presentations and authored more than 50 articles, and two books forthcoming. Dr McMain’s work has received several research awards including the distinguished research award from the European Society for the Study of Personality Disorders, the scientific paper prize from the American Psychoanalytic Association, and the research award from the International Society for Improvement and Teaching of DBT.
