Embodied Listening for Couples and Families: Using the Felt Sense Polyvagal Dialogue
Event date: -
Event type: Single day (a day or less)
Over the last several decades cutting edge neurobiological research has had a powerful impact on the field of trauma treatment, helping clinicians to appreciate the vital role of embodied processes in healing. Somatic therapies are receiving more recognition for individuals, and now the Felt Sense Polyvagal Dialogue offers clinicians a powerful embodied therapeutic model for helping couples and families. It is based on Porges Polyvagal theory, a new way of understanding our autonomic nervous system, Gendlin’s Focusing/Felt Sense, a somatic healing practice and Hendrix/ Hunt Imago Dialogue. This six-step process teaches clients how to understand and deeply listen to their own body wisdom, and that of their partners and children, creating safe and compassionate relationships.
Learning Outcomes:
- Explain three states in the autonomic nervous system
- Explain how Polyvagal theory helps us to understand the physiological responses and behaviors in couples and families.
- Define the role of the Felt Sense in state regulation
- Name the six steps of the Felt Sense Polyvagal Dialogue.
