Empowering Family Caregivers to Improve Health Care Communication
Event date: -
Event type: Single day (a day or less)
As part of an Ontario SPOR SUPPORT Unit EMPOWER award, we are holding a workshop (online and in person) for family caregivers to improve health care communication. This webinar/workshop is part of the Azrieli Family Education Series and will be facilitated by family advisors at CAMH.
Families play a key role in supporting adults with developmental disabilities (DD) to manage their health. How can parents and siblings support their family member with a developmental disability to get the best health care possible? We will focus this session on two key communication tools, About My Health and My Health Care Visit, and how using health care communication tools can really make a difference.
Presenters:
- Lee Steel, Family Advocate, CAMH Azrieli Adult Neurodevelopmental Centre
- Irfan Jiwa, Research Analyst, CAMH Azrieli Adult Neurodevelopmental Centre
- Yona Lunsky, Director, CAMH Azrieli Adult Neurodevelopmental Centre and Health Care Access Research and Developmental Disabilities Program (H-CARDD)
Videoconferencing information will be emailed the morning of the event. Please email hcardd@camh.ca if you would like to attend in person
