Exploring Patient-Oriented Research in Forensic Settings
Event date: -
Event type: Single day (a day or less)
Join the Waypoint Research Institute on June 6, 2024, for a hybrid knowledge-sharing event to explore ways of meaningfully engaging forensic patients as partners in POR.
Patient-oriented research (POR) is an inclusive approach that aims to involve patients in the research process through priority setting, conducting research, and bringing research findings into clinical practice and health policy. In the context of forensic mental healthcare, POR holds the potential to improve hospital processes and program delivery, enhance patient safety and dignity, and improve care experiences.
By bringing together frontline staff, researchers, health leaders, POR champions, and patients, the event will foster collaborative discussion and learning. Our hope is to scale and spread these learnings beyond Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care to other forensic mental healthcare settings.
This event is funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research as part of the Café Scientifique Program.
