Course Description
This two-part interactive and engaging workshop will explore new ways for participants to integrate trauma-informed and trauma-sensitive practices into their work and workplaces. Participants will have an opportunity to learn and practice safety and stabilization techniques that they can share with clients. Topics covered will include an introduction to trauma responses, stigma and biases, defining trauma, trauma-informed principles, screening for trauma, the Six Dimensions of Complex PTSD, First Stage Trauma Treatment Skills, and vicarious trauma.

Facilitator Biography
Lindsay Dixon
Lindsay spent over fifteen years working for local mental health and addictions agencies before pursuing her current career as a practitioner of expressive arts and yoga. Lindsay is passionate about destigmatizing mental health and substance use concerns. She is honoured to once again have the opportunity to share her knowledge and discuss the Principles of Trauma-Informed Care with the community.
Lindsay’s curriculum vitae includes a diploma in Social Services, a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Psychology, and a variety of post-graduate trainings in Expressive Arts Therapy (EXAT). She is currently working on building a private practice in EXAT based in Peterborough, Ontario.
