About the workshop:

What can you do with a pile of old comic books, used books, magazines and newspapers? You’ve got endless possibilities to create a collage!

In this 2 hour art workshop, you’ll learn how using pre-existing imagery can be a great starting point for your art making. We’ll cut out and collect images that attract our eyes and imaginations then find different ways to combine them into new ideas, connections, characters or compositions. By the end of the two hour workshop, participants will take home their finished artwork.

This workshop is useful for:

- Well-being and mindfulness

- Exploration of the creative process

- Communal art making

All required materials will be provided by CAMH on the day of the workshop. Preregistration

is required as space is limited per group. No experience necessary.

About the facilitator:

Taryn Lee is a neurodivergent artist and educator with lived experience from Oakville, Ontario. She has a Bachelor of Design from Toronto Metropolitan University in Fashion Communication. Her own art practice focuses on colourful, representational figurative works, portraits and stylized fashion sketches using mixed medias. She’s had experience teaching art to youth in a classroom setting and teaching online art courses with Workman Arts. She is a Fellow of the CAMH Yale Let(s) Lead program and a longtime Workman Arts member. She’s completed CAMHs Collaborative Learning College peer support and facilitation training courses and peer support training with the Mood Disorders Society of Canada. She is an Active Listener for Workman Arts online and in person events. She believes the act of creating art in safe and encouraging community spaces builds connections, encourages mindfulness, and ignites ideas that lead towards transformations.

So many of the events that are sent out in this platform do not say what city they are in. The address would be helpful information for in person events. I want one email a month - not multiple a day - they clog my inbox.
