"Communication is an essential part of life.Through communication we connect with others, make our wants known, share ideas, and let other people know how we feel.”  Fern Sussman, Hanen – More Than Words.

This webinar was designed for professionals and caregivers to review the building blocks of communication (e.g., imitation, joint attention, cause and effect, turn taking, functional play, etc.) For most children the ability to communicate emerges naturally and starts long before the use of first words. However, for children with autism spectrum disorder or identified social communication deficits, intervention may be necessary to foster the growth of these foundation skills. In addition to a theoretical review, participants will learn practical strategies and leave with a variety of resources to encourage the development of prelinguistic communication skills.
