Healing From Our Past: A Trauma-Focused Introduction to EMDR Therapy
Join us for an introductory webinar on Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, focusing on its principles, evidence base, and application in trauma treatment. EMDR therapy will be presented as a transdiagnostic approach and its applicability to PTSD, Complex PTSD and racial trauma will be explored. Attendees will gain insights into key concepts of psychotraumatology, supported by case examples based on composites for client confidentiality. The session will also explore the critical issue of racial trauma, highlighting how EMDR therapy can be adapted to address the unique needs of marginalized communities. By attending this session, learners will deepen their understanding of trauma treatment and build awareness of a trauma-focused approach that is useful in diverse therapeutic settings. This webinar will provide knowledge and build interest in learning more about EMDR therapy and understanding the spectrum of trauma.

David Archer is a registered social worker, couple and family therapist, and anti-racist psychotherapist from Montreal, Canada (Tio’tià:ke). Archer is an EMDR Approved Consultant and the developer of the Rhythm and Processing therapeutic framework for complex/racial trauma recovery. Additionally, he is the author of five books, including Anti-Racist Psychotherapy and Transforming Complex Trauma. Recognized as a keynote speaker and thought leader in trauma recovery and EMDR, he is the first recipient of the “Emerging Leader” award from EMDRIA, an international association that provides EMDR-approved trainings, workshops, and continuing education. Known for his compelling presentations, unique sense of humor, and revolutionary perspectives on mental health, trauma recovery, and fatherhood, Archer aims to increase the number of EMDR therapists in Canada and culturally responsive therapists internationally, to make the world a better place for the next generation.
