Description:
In this training, Dr. Lafrance will share lessons learned as a psychologist and research scientist actively engaged in both fields – psychedelic medicine and conventional psychology/psychotherapy. Using anecdotes, video clips and research, concepts such as spirituality, love, emotion processing, attachment and family factors will be reviewed including practical ways to embody these lessons in practices with clients.
Learning objectives:
- Describe a conceptualization to mental health issues informed by lessons learned in the context of psychedelic medicine
- Discuss the need to rehabilitate the concept of love in psychotherapy
- Summarize research relating to spirituality and emotion processing as factors that jointly influence mental health outcomes
