How to Engage Adolescents in Psychotherapy: A 21st Century Perspective

This training is suitable for: Mental Health Professionals:  Psychotherapists, Counsellors, Psychologists, Social Workers. Child and Youth Workers, Direct Service Workers. Medical Professionals:  Nurses, Psychiatrists, Pediatricians, Family Doctors

Description: We are on the cusp of a revolution in how technology and biology are effecting teenage brains. This training will clarify how adolescent development effect risk taking; how to ensure optimal outcomes in psychotherapy with teens.  The potential role which behavioral intervention technologies (A.I., chatbots etc) may play in conducting psychotherapy in the future.

Relationship will matter – but how does that look in the 21st century.

Learning Objectives: 

  1. Understand how teenage brain development contributes to risk taking
  2. Have a framework for how to optimize psychotherapy outcome in teens
  3. Appreciate the impact of “neuro-culture” on stigma education
  4. Appreciate the challenges and opportunities that technology (A.I., chatbots, apps) presents the future of psychotherapy with teenagers.
