Event date: -

Event type: Single day (a day or less)

COVID-19 has put the mental health of our nation at risk, but as we navigate the next phase of a global pandemic, new research and treatment discoveries offer guidance and hope for Canadians.

In this live virtual conversation, we’ll explore the mental health impacts of COVID-19 on individuals, families, healthcare workers, and first responders. In particular, we will discuss two growing concerns affecting people across the country: post-traumatic stress and moral injury.

Informed by the stories of people with lived and living experience, we will share lessons learned, signs and symptoms, and resources that may benefit others experiencing pandemic-related trauma or moral injury. Finally, we’ll discuss research underway aimed at helping some of the nation’s most at-risk populations and invite questions from the public about these growing mental health concerns.

Featuring:

Margaret McKinnon, PhD, C Psych
Homewood Research Chair in Mental Health and Trauma
Professor and Associate Chair, Research, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences, McMaster University
Research Lead, Mental Health and Addictions, St Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton

LCol (Ret’d) Alexandra Heber, MD, FRCPC, CCPE
Chief of Psychiatry, Veterans Affairs Canada
Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, University of Ottawa

Good morning,

Unfortunately we had power outage last night and I was unable to access the webinar. Is there a recording that I can access? This session will really help to inform some of my recovery work moving forward. Thanks in advance.

Best,

Brooke Boersen
