Description:
How can we better support youth and young adult’s mental health? With rising rates of anxiety, depression, and substance use, understanding the challenges young people face—and the solutions that can help—is more important than ever.
Youth mental health is at a crossroads. More young people than ever are struggling, yet barriers to care persist. This session brings together top researchers, clinicians, and youth to examine the latest data, key risk factors, and opportunities for change.

Featuring:
Senator Stan Kutcher was formally the Sun Life Financial Chair in Adolescent Mental Health and former director World Health Organization Collaborating Centre in Mental Health Policy and Training at Dalhousie University and IWK Health Centre in Canada. Dr. Kutcher was appointed to the Senate in 2019.
Dr. Jillian Halladay is a Registered Nurse, Clinical Epidemiologist (MSc, PhD), and Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing at McMaster University. Dr. Halladay currently holds a Health System Impact Embedded Early Career Researcher Award co-funded by the Canadian Institute of Health Research, McMaster University, and St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton.
Denzel Innis is a member of the Peter Boris Centre for Addictions Research Young Adults Advisory Board. He has lived experience in dealing with the mental healthcare system in Ontario. He hopes to eventually work in the mental health field.
