Human Trafficking and Sexual Exploitation Prevention 101
This webinar equips frontline service providers with the foundational knowledge and skills to recognize, prevent, and respond to sex trafficking and sexual exploitation.
Facilitated by Aura Freedom, a grassroots, intersectional feminist organization dedicated to eradicating gender-based violence and human trafficking, this training explores the root causes, systemic inequities and current human trafficking trends in Canada. Attendees will examine the nature and spectrum of human trafficking, coercive control, grooming methods and risk factors. Special focus will be given to the intersections of colonialism, Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two-Spirit+(MMIWG2S+), and the heightened vulnerability of various marginalized communities.
Participants will leave with practical tools and understanding, including how to identify trafficking indicators, best practices for receiving disclosures, trauma informed approaches for supporting survivors, and more.
This webinar is designed for professionals to enhance their ability to combat human trafficking and support survivors effectively. By addressing the root causes of gender-based violence and human trafficking, this training fosters long term systemic change and empowers frontline workers to be agents of prevention and support.
