Introduction to Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): Developing Your Process-Based and Purpose-Focused Social Work Practice

Tuesday, March 28, 2023 @ 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. ET

Presented by: Peter Sheffield, MSc, MSW, RSW

This one day introductory workshop will introduce learners to Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), an experiential and process-based form of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). ACT’s perspective on the ubiquity of human suffering – and the fundamental wholeness of client and clinician alike – means that training in this deeply empathic, experiential, and transdiagnostic approach to psychotherapy will help you move beyond diagnosis and better attend to what matters most to both your clients and yourself. The six ACT processes will be introduced through interactive lecturing, small group practice, and experiential exercises, with an emphasis on how ACT supports and expands – not replaces - your existing clinical repertoire.

Presented by: Peter Sheffield, MSc, MSW, RSW

Cost:

  • OASW Members: $199
  • Non-Members / Allied Health Professionals: $249
