Introduction to Opioids, Addiction & Opioid Use Disorder (Virtual)

This workshop covers what opioids are, their side-effects and the risks associated with misusing opioids, toxicity of the unregulated drug supply, signs of an opioid overdose, naloxone, and opioids in relation to Bipolar Disorder and Psychosis.
We will define addiction and opioid use disorder. Participants will learn the signs of opioids use disorder, symptoms of opioid use withdrawal, and the risk factors of developing opioid use disorder. You will also learn how to speak to someone who is using opioids, protective factors, what treatment options are available for opioid use disorder, harm reduction strategies, resources, and support services.
