For the first 3 days after his murder, I couldn't sleep or eat properly, or think straight really. I simply sat, in front of the computer and devoured everything George Floyd ...
Everything but the video of his death. That image, I refused entry into my Spirit (if nothing else, I am fully aware of my limits).
I have been cycling through rage, fear, sadness, overwhelm, helplessness, anger and determination ever since May 25, 2020.
I pulled out my self-care toolkit and rested it on my desk for a week or so before putting it back ... the old strategies seems ill-equipped to deal with this new level of (I don't know what to call it) frustration.
What eventually pulled me out of this darkness and prepared me to stand strong in my purpose is the remembrance that I was born for such a time as THIS!!!
I have walked through the valley of the shadow of death on numerous occasions for/with others confronted by life-altering circumstances and I have bared witness to transformative, systemic changes we once thought could never occur.
What I want to know now is ...

I am hosting an exclusively Black & Racialized People Event to discuss the impact of the current iteration of Black Lives Matter on everyday life and to collaboratively build a new Self-Care Toolkit specific to this season of COVID, George Floyd and Anti-Black Racism.
We will meet in the TRUE ROOTS - Zoom Room at 7:00pm for the firs session of CHECK-IN & CHAT.

I have a friend who is a musician who is really suffering this and could benefit from a wider circle of black people also looking to cope well and keep/find the strength to carry on toward justice.
