Alcohol, cannabis and nicotine products are the three most commonly consumed psychoactive substances among young people in Canada. Substance use is a familiar term to adults, however they may not feel comfortable discussing drug use with young people or include it as part of their regular safety conversations.
To support adults involved in youths' lives, DFK has launched our "Let's Talk Drugs" series. Join us as we explore trends in youth substance use, including:
- Prevalence and patterns of use among youth under 25 across Canada
- Reasons why youth use or avoid substance use
- Risks of mixing substances together
- Impaired driving
- Substance use and mental health
- Myths and misconceptions about substance use
- Risks and strategies to reduce harm associated with substance use
- Strategies for speaking with youth about substances
- And more!
