Despite what many kids believe, vaping is not a safe alternative to smoking cigarettes. Vapes and e-cigarettes can contain more nicotine than a traditional cigarette, and exposure during adolescence affects memory, concentration, impulse control, and brain development. It can also lead to addiction to nicotine and other substances. Furthermore, the emergence of nicotine pouches in the last couple of years, as well as the continued presence of tobacco, presents youth across Canada with an ongoing concern to health and wellness.
Parents are one of the most powerful lines of defence. The best tool you have? A conversation. Join us for our upcoming webinar, where we'll give you the information and strategies you need to talk openly with your kids about vaping - early and without judgment. Join Substance for this free webinar, which will discuss:
- Why do teens use vapes?
- How does nicotine use impact the brain's ability to mange stress?
- What makes nicotine so addictive, and why are youth at a greater risk of developing a nicotine addiction than adults?
- What health risks do we know of that can be caused by vaping?
- What are nicotine pouches, and what sorts of research is being done to understand these product's possible risks?
- What other sorts of risks and topics can we discuss with teens about vaping beyond lung and overall health?
- What are signs that a teen is vaping, and how can parents respond to this situation?
- And more!
