This training is suitable for: Professionals who have an ongoing therapeutic relationship with a client, such as psychotherapists, counsellors, psychologists, social workers.
Please note, this workshop is not appropriate for housing workers, nurses, crisis workers, and homeless shelter staff for those individuals the UMAB program would be more appropriate.

Ethical approaches to anger are grounded in respectful relationships that see the person as separate from the problem of anger. Using a Narrative and Brief Therapy approach to developing skills with anger management, this workshop will explore in detail how to ethically support and motivate people mandated (and non-mandated) for anger management as they learn new strategies for dealing with disruptive anger patterns. Approaches for managing the physiology, the effects of anger patterns along with facilitating and supporting change in how people manage anger will also be covered.

Learning Objectives:

  • Explore anger in a safe and respectful way
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients who struggle with anger
  • Engage and support motivation when clients are mandated for counselling
  • Work collaboratively with people to develop safe and effective skills for responding to anger
