These training sessions are designed specifically for family caregivers, providing practical tools and strategies to support loved ones effectively. Through engaging discussions and real-life case studies, participants will explore a risk-management approach that incorporates harm reduction, abstinence, and Motivational Interviewing techniques. This is an opportunity to gain valuable insights into minimizing the risks associated with substance use for individuals living with psychosis, learn how to intervene compassionately and provide the support they need.
 
In these two sessions you will learn the following:
  1. Understanding substance use amongst people living with psychosis
  2. Different approaches to substance use (i.e., harm reduction, abstinence)
  3. Reducing stigma associated with substance use
  4. Using Motivational Interviewing to minimize risks and create change
  5. Scripts and practical tools used to talk about substance use with your family member
  6. Working through case studies to practice implementing these tools
