Participants will then need to complete Module 1 (which is a self-learning module) by January 25 2022. Completing Module 1 takes about two hours. Hello
If I complete this training, will I be able to offer this service to business looking for Mental Health First Aid training?
Thanks
Hi Allessndra,
Thank you for reaching out.
This workshop training certifies you to be Mental Health First Aider. If you want to offer this training to other people, You would need to train to be a Mental Health First Aid Trainer, which is a 4-day course provided by the Mental Health Commission Canada. Here is a link for information about Train the Trainer courses: https://www.mhfa.ca/en/instructor-courses
Hope that is helpful.
David
Thanks Dr. Murphy,
Sorry for the confusion. Let me clarify. I was contacted by a business inquiring if I could go to their company and offer Mental First Aid "for staff". It would be a one-day course to help staff better understand signs of possible mental health. I would not be training other people to be a Mental Health First Aid Trainer.
Please let me know.
Alessandra
Hi Alessandra,
Thanks for the update.
So, no, completing the Mental Health First Aider certification would not give you the knowledge and skills that you would need to present a day-long workshop on understanding the signs of a decline in mental health. And it would not give you access to the materials and teaching aids that a Mental Health First Aid Trainer would have.
If I can help in any way with providing the training for the business, please let me know.
David
Thanks Dr. Murhpy, I will let you know.
