Studies show that weight gain and rates of diabetes are higher in individuals with psychosis. Many antipsychotic drugs lead to insulin resistance, raising blood sugar levels, which can lead to diabetes over the long term. Learning how to control the intake of carbohydrates will help to offset weight gain as well as reduce blood sugar levels.
