Minding the Gap: A Conversation on Access to Mental Health Care
Event date: -
Event type: Multi-day (+2 days)
The Ismaili Centre Mental Health Series - Minding the Gap: Conversations on Mental Health from Stigma to Treatment Innovation is a conversation series dedicated to sharing ideas about mental health in our society in collaboration with leading professionals, academics, and experts in the field.
Join us for the second event in this three-part series for a conversation on Access to Mental Health Care. Approximately 1 in 4 people in Ontario who need mental health care struggle to access it. Let’s explore what access to mental health care looks like, how to access it, and the innovative resources that are being developed to facilitate this process.
This conversation will feature representatives from Hard Feelings (Kate Scowen), the Family Navigation Project (Dr. Anthony Levitt), and Progress Place (Criss Habel-Brosek and Bryan Meerai).

With the College of Nurses new mandate for nurses to do psychotherapy without a doctor's order, I am a Registered Psychotherapist Nurse interested in providing innovative mental health services to clients "in their home."
While I am unable to attend this forum as I live out of the Toronto catchment, I would be curious to develop a dialogue on improving Access to Mental Health Care for individuals in their homes implimenting a Psychotherapist Nurses. With 1 in 4 people in Ontario who need mental health care struggling to access, psychotherapist nurses would meet with clients in their homes rather than the hospital and provide wholistically care.
I wonder if this is being discussed and developed to facilitate the gap of mental health services?
