Event type: Single day (a day or less)

OAMHP IS offering this practical, interactive and dynamic workshop integrating Prochaska and DiClemente’s stages of change model with Miller and Rollnik’s Motivational Interviewing principles. The resulting program, when implemented in the field of mental health, addictions and community corrections, will increase the likelihood that clients will successfully follow a course of action toward change. Our Advance MI program will anchor the key strategies of MI in ways that fit with one’s own unique counselling style so that participants will gain the confidence to incorporate the tools of MI even into brief counselling interactions.

Program Objectives

  • To develop an enhanced understanding of the key roadblocks to motivation
  • To revisit the art of strategic reflection
  • To build motivation in resistant clients
  • To learn ways of negotiating a change plan with the client
  • To exercise an apply MI techniques within participants specific job roles

Great idea. This is primary form of "Talking Therapy " I use with my MAT patients (Methadone and BUP/NLX) and also my Pain Mgt patient .

Can be used of course with the more commonly Audited Illness (DM etc) but the billing codes (in Ontario ) for them too restrictive to really do a good session of M.I and S.O.C in  my opinion

Regards

Patrick
