Course overview

This course prepares physicians and nurse practitioners to use motivational interviewing (MI) in single and brief consultation sessions. It is for physicians and nurse practitioners interested in behavioural change and who work in family, internal, emergency, preventive or critical care.

Participants may also choose to purchase the textbook: Schumacher, J.A. & Madson, M.B. (2014). Fundamentals of Motivational Interviewing: Tips and Strategies for Addressing Common Clinical Challenges. Oxford University Press: United Kingdom. (Note: Pre-reading covers pages 1-122.)
