These SECOND ROUND ZOOM sessions are practical, interactive, and relevant for all Physicians dealing with patients with mental illness. Focusing especially on the emotional aspects of the patient-therapist relationship these sessions are supportive and encouraging to the doctor or psychotherapist (see testimonials below).

An important goal of the psychotherapy supervision is to make doctors more sensitive to the psychological factors that govern the encounter. Even some of the seemingly most straightforward clinical interactions may be more complex than apparent. Specifically, when dealing with certain doctor-patient interactions that are not understood, the participants will gain a greater understanding of certain problem doctor-patient encounters. These include: The angry-doctor patient encounter, the demanding-encounter, the dependent-encounter, the highly anxious patient encounter, and the potentially suicidal patient, are some examples.

Doctor-patient relationship issues will be better understood though an involvement with these Balint-like group supervision sessions. Above all, the outcome of these sessions is a synthesis of the cognitive and the affective processing of doctor-patient sessions. Supervision leads physicians to a more, empathic, deeper understanding of their patients. The physician learns to be more therapeutic in their connection with patients. Equally importantly the doctor learns a framework within which to view patients that leads to less frustration, less confusion, and less dissatisfaction with medical practice (and helps avoid professional burnout).
