Course Description:
Do you wish you could find your way “home” in the middle of conflict?
Do you wish it was easier to find solutions when you’re stressed?
Do you wish it was easier to diffuse tension and drama?
Using the Wizard of Oz story as metaphor, you will be introduced to conflict resolution skills based on compassionate "Nonviolent Communication” or NVC (Rosenberg 1999, 2015). You will learn practical strategies for bringing choice, honesty, empathy, and self-care into moments of tension and frustration. Our morning session will explore core concepts and possible applications. During the afternoon, we will apply the NVC process to real-life scenarios. Our focus throughout the day will be on effective self-empathy as a foundation for effective communication, conflict resolution, and client support.
Please Bring:
- A brief paragraph outlining a low to moderate-level stress situation or conflict you’d like to revisit with NVC (you will work on this privately, others will only know about it if you choose to share it).
- A pen, paper, and curiosity.
