Peer Houses have delivered inspiring care from crisis through short term stays across the United States and beyond. On Friday, March 25th from 2:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. they are inviting us as housing and healthcare changemakers to learn from their unique, Peer-led models that empower people to understand, manage, and overcome trauma, mental health and addiction unwellness, plus social determinant of health challenges. As a gap-housing solution in the U.S. they have proven to significantly reduce resident hospital utilization, incarceration rates, mainstream system spending - and increase healing to connect back to community. We hope as organization influencers you may join in the discussion to advocate and adapt this successful gap-need housing model for Canada.
Also, launching on March 25th is a new accessible Central Resource space for Toronto Peers - recommended by Toronto Peers. PeerHouse.ca will be introduced during the panel discussion encouraging Peer recovery to employment in a collaborative, cross sectoral space with many ways for Lived Experience people - and organizations - to participate and be involved. PeerHouse.ca features Toronto Peer Supporters, Peer Programs, Peer Employment opportunities and more. It aims toward connecting more Lived Experience people to online knowledge and wellness, and together growing our cross-sectoral Peer community in Toronto.
