Practicing acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT): A deep dive into bringing the psychological flexibility model into your practice
Presented by SickKids CCMH Learning Institute
Live webinar: March 29, 2022 |9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Facilitator: Matthew Boone, LCSW
Have you ever wondered how you can include tools from other traditions? Or how to conceptualize client problems through an ACT lens more seamlessly? Or maybe you just need more practice with feedback from an experienced trainer and others who are also on their own ACT journey - this is the training for you.
In this one-day online webinar, mental health practitioners will get a chance to refine their knowledge, skills, and abilities through
- reviewing core acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) concepts
- watching skills demonstrations
- conceptualizing cases through an ACT lens
- practicing ACT in role-play and real play situations in small groups.
Learning objectives:
- Identify psychological flexibility and inflexibility processes in their clients
- Distinguish topographically delivered ACT (i.e., surface-level interventions that look ACT-like on their face) from functionally delivered ACT (i.e., interventions that facilitate willingness, defusion, and values-based action, no matter what it looks like on the surface)
- Identify three new strategies for facilitating psychological flexibly with clients
- Conceptualize case material from an ACT perspective
The presentation will teach skills that can be implemented easily via telemedicine and will take into account COVID-related contextual factors that influence mental health, such as social isolation, political tension, and interpersonal conflict related to differing worldviews.
Registration fees: $250. Student and group rates are available.
