The University Health Network’s Pride in Patient Engagement in Research (PiPER) is hosting a Research Day on October 9, from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM
This year’s theme is Neurodiversity, with a special focus on embracing the unique strengths and assets that neurodivergent individuals contribute to research teams and organizations.
“Neurodiversity” is an umbrella term that represents all the unique ways that each brain processes information and the argument that unique cognitive typologies that fall under neurodivergence are just as valuable as neurotypical.
Neurodivergent conditions include:
- Autism Spectrum Conditions
- Broad Autism Phenotype
- Developmental Language Disorder
- Dyscalculia
- Dyslexia
- Dyspraxia
- Hyperlexia
- Nonverbal Learning Disability
- Sensory Processing Disorder
- Synesthesia
- Tourette’s Syndrome
- Variable Attention Stimulus Trait
