The Immigrant and Refugee Mental Health Project, funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, is offering a culturally-sensitive, trauma informed course for service providers supporting the mental health of Yazidi refugees. This free, evidence based course for settlement, social and health service providers will increase knowledge on:
- the unique mental health needs of Yazidi refugees
- risk and protective factors for, and determinants of, Yazidis’ mental health while settling in Canada
- service adaptation to deliver culturally appropriate, trauma-informed and gender-sensitive care
- self-care strategies when working with highly traumatized populations such as Yazidis.
