Youth Research and Evaluation eXchange (YouthREX) is excited to launch an interactive online conversation series on how the Ontario youth sector is adapting to shifting contexts as a result of COVID-19.

When the pandemic hit, youth programs did not just pack up but continued their relentless search for ways to keep supporting better outcomes for Ontario’s youth!

We will feature different youth programs and advocates to explore how they are pivoting their approaches to youth engagement, programming, and advocacy; the issues that are emerging as priorities in their work; the lessons they are learning (and unlearning); and ways they are adapting in real time during this unprecedented period.

Join us on July 21st to hear from Chris Penrose, Program Director, and Micaëlla Riché, Basketball Operations Manager, from Lay-Up about how Lay-Up is offering youth the benefits of a sports program in an online setting.

Lay-Up is a community-based basketball program designed for children and youth (6-14) of all skill levels. Their programs are delivered year-round in Toronto’s Neighbourhood Improvement Areas. They provide high-quality programming led by certified coaches with a 7:1 coach to participant ratio. Lay-Up’s commitment to providing experiences, activities, and learning opportunities off-the-court is embedded in the culture of basketball.
