Revolutionizing Trauma and Addiction Treatment with the Felt Sense Polyvagal Model

Thursday, March 30, 2023 @ 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. ET

Presented by: Jan Winhall

In this course, you will experience the Felt Sense Polyvagal Model through embodying the two somatic practices of the model, Felt Sensing (interoception) and tracking neurophysiological state (neuroception). Firstly, we will take our theoretical model and apply it to our own embodiment, forming a deeper connection to presence and grounding, our ventral state. Then we will explore how to use this strength based and radically non-pathologizing methodology to welcome our clients into a polyvagal informed and dignified healing journey. Within the context of developing trauma informed practices and through an anti-oppressive lens, we will experience the wisdom of the body in adapting to stress through seeking addictive and dissociative behaviors in order to survive. Through case examples from the class, we will explore how to use the Embodied Assessment and Treatment Tool™ to formulate a non-pathologizing assessment and treatment plan for our clients.
