safeTALK Training with CMHA York South Simcoe
Event date: -
Event type: Single day (a day or less)
safeTALK is suicide alertness training for the whole community!
Most people with thoughts of suicide invite help. Often these opportunities are missed, dismissed or avoided, leaving people more alone and at greater risk.
safeTALK is a 3.5 hour training that empowers everyone (15 years of age and older) to make a difference by providing in-depth skills to recognize and respond to signs of suicide. In this workshop you will learn how to prevent suicide by engaging with someone at risk and connecting them to an intervention resource for further support.
safeTALK teaches you to:
•Notice and respond to situations where suicide thoughts may be present
•Recognize that invitations for help are often overlooked
•Move beyond the common tendency to miss, dismiss, and avoid suicide
•Apply the TALK steps: Tell, Ask, Listen, Keep safe
•Know community resources and how to connect someone with thoughts of suicide to them for further suicide-safer help.
Cost: $50 per person
