Mar 19, 2021 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM

Presented by Matthew Selekman, MSW, LCSW ,CRADC in Partnership with SKCCMH Learning Institute

In this "hands on" practice-oriented webinar, participants will learn how to interview for wellness and possibilities by eliciting and utilizing to the maximum degree youths' pretreatment changes, self-generated coping, problem-solving, and health-enhancing expertise to further empower them. Participants will learn a plethora of stress-innoculation and resiliency-enhancing tools and strategies, such as: effective mindfulness-based practices, visualizations, Wise Mind thinking tools, and tapping into their inventiveness, key strengths, life passions, and creativity with art, expressive writing, and other avenues for self-expression to help reduce stress, stabilize anxiety and depressive symptoms, and prevent self-destructive behaviors.

Learning Objectives:

1) Viewing the constraints COVID-19 has posed as an opportunity for endless possibilities rather than a limitation

2) Learning how to embrace radical acceptance and non-attachment to liberate oneself and our clients from ruminating about what we don't have control over and negative emotions

3) Eliciting from youth their own self-generated coping, problem-solving, and health-enhancing abilities through the use of pretreatment change and empowering questions

4) Learn a wide range of stress-innoculation and resiliency-enhancing tools and strategies that make use of youths' key strengths, talents, and key avenues of self-expression

5) Learn a variety of mindfulness meditations and practices, visualizations, and Wise Mind thinking tools and strategies for youth to reduce stress and help them to better cope with strong negative emotions and thoughts.

This Webinar is FREE for Ontario Registered Social Workers (RSW), Registered Social Service Workers (RSSW) and Students of Social Work and Social Service Work Programs. Please note: If you are not an RSW, RSSW or student of these programs in Ontario, you may still attend but will be charged a nominal fee of $35.
