This workshop builds upon the webinar Trauma Informed Practice : A Social Justice and Strength-Based Perspective.

Participants will delve deeper into nuanced, complexities and liberating potentials of trauma-informed practice. The workshop will be interactive, scenario based and will embody trauma-informed strategies.

Participants will be more reflective and confident in bridging theory in practice on a micro, mezzo and macro level. This workshop will aim to foster a sense of community, connection, an exchange of resources and insight into one's own lived experiences.

Learning objectives

  • Deepen theoretical concepts of trauma informed practice into practice
  • Feel more confident and skilled in working with persons and communities who have experienced trauma
  • Explore meaningful ways to implement trauma informed practice from a social justice and strength based approach
  • Gain confidence in applying trauma-informed tools and strategies from a micro, mezzo and macro lens
  • Reflection and insight into one’s own individual trauma experiences and how that impacts the work
  • Explore how to sustain oneself in the work while witnessing and holding suffering
  • Participants will experience a sense of community while they grapple with the complexities of implementing trauma-informed practice and principle
