Event type: Single day (a day or less)

On May 15, 2019, a diverse assembly of thought leaders and community builders in the Peel Region will meet over Zoom, to recognize International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia (IDAHOT).  As we continue to highlight the needs of Queer and Trans communities in Peel, this wellness event will help us break the silence and raise the voices of those marginalized by our systems and structures. With a diverse range of thought leaders, performers and community champions, we ask that you join us and engage in a critical conversation around the needs of communities.

With the effects of COVID-19, we have redefined our objective this year to provide a space for our Queer and Trans Communities in Peel to see themselves reflected and represented while engaging in a dialogue on art, advocacy and wellness. This year, we have drag performances, musical contributions and so much more from our resilient communities. Our keynote address will be delivered by Dr. Andrew B. Campbell, (DR. ABC), Ph.D., M.Ed., B.A., Dip. Ed., OCT

“In our families, in our social circles at work, in out sports clubs, for many of us our Sexualities, Gender Identities or Sex Characteristics must be hidden. We wander through most of our lives with the sigma of feeling ashamed of who we are.” This year we “break the Silence”.  We examine the many ways we can and must tell our stories, claim space, establish our voices and ensure we are heard. We break the silence and tell out truths – our stories.
